"Looks Like Rain Today"
(dedicated to my late Paw Paw, Deddy, and Uncle Edward. Written in
1998 while my deddy was dying of "The Lie". HE died December 19th
and we buried him on Christams Eve. His brother, Edward, died on
Christmas Eve before I was borned. My Pawpaw died the same year
on our son's 3rd birthday-April 11. The song "Fly" was written the same
day he died and I sang it at his funeral. R.I.P. to ALL my loves ones of
past years)

Way back in the woods on a place they called Hilltop
A momma and her four boys in house made of brick blocks
And people came from miles just to hear the ole man
Talk about the weather around the dog pen
Several hundred miles of walkin dirt road
Smokin rolled tobacco and watchin grass grow
And people came for miles just to hear the ole man say,
"Git the dogs a ready, it looks like rain today"
chorus:
Looks like rain today
Yodel le hee Yodel le hee Yodel le
Looks like rain today
Yodel le hee Yodel le hee Yodel le hee
Yodel le hee Yodel le
Kids a hoopin and hollerin around the campfire
Dancin in the moonlight and catchin fireflies
And people came from mile just to hear the ole man
Talk about the weather around the dog pen
Well summers they was easy but the winters were frightnin
Christmas Eve he left 'em just like lightnin
And people came from miles just to hear the ole man say,
"Git the dogs a ready, it looks like rain today
Chorus
